A town needs a place to meet
Mount Coolon grew up around gold, and the hotel has been its meeting place since 1921. When the doors closed, locals kept asking for their pub back. On 2 November 2025 the Mount Coolon Hotel opened again.
It is a great old pub with plenty of character, and a welcome stop on the long run between Collinsville and Clermont. Station families, mine crews, grey nomads and road-trippers all end up at the same bar.
